Are you renting an apartment in Henrico County and paying around $2,000 per month? If so, you might be closer to homeownership than you think - even in today's real estate market with higher interest rates and rising home prices!
Many first time home buyers assume that they're priced out, but with a little shift in expectations and a willingness to explore new areas, owning your first home is absolutely achievable. It's all about viewing your first home as a stepping stone - not your forever home, but the place that gets you on the path to building equity and reaching that dream home in the future.
First Time Homebuyer in Henrico County - What Can You Get for Under $300,000?
If you are a first first time homebuyer in Henrico County, you may be wondering if it is possible to say good bye to the landlord! In a recent video, I shared what's available under $300,000 in Area 22, which includes the Far West End and the popular Short Pump area. In that market, you may not be able to snag a 3 bedroom single family home - but you can find condos and townhomes that offer a great entry point into homeownership.
Prefer a single family home? You might need to consider a smaller 2 bedroom option, which still gets you out of paying those monthly HOA fees that come with condos or townhomes.
Want More Space? Explore Other Henrico Areas
Today, I took a deeper dive into two other parts of Henrico County:
Area 32: Northside of Henrico County, which includes the Lakeside area and Chamberlayne Farms
Area 34: Glen Allen area
In these area, you'll find more options for 3 bedroom single family homes under $300,000. In fact, today I found 17 homes currently on the market - some have even been sitting for 20+ days. That's a great opportunity to negotiate, avoid bidding wars, and possibly get a better deal.
Your First Home Is Just The Beginning
As someone who has helped hundreds of first time homebuyers, I can tell you: there's nothing like the feeling of moving out of a rental and into a home of your own. Sure, it might not be perfect or permanent - but it's yours, and it's a smart first step on your real estate journey.
